Fasting for Peace – Day Sixty-One

By Makayla Tarango, Sophomore

The first couple of hours of my fast was o.k. By nighttime I was hungry, but kept the thought in my mind that would eventually eat again.

The best part of the fast was when I went on a field trip with the entire sophomore class. I had fun. The worst part was going to sleep and waking up hungry. It was  a different feeling since I’m use to eating whenever I feel like it. But the I thought this isn’t so bad.

I chose to reflect on the I statement, “I will be mindful of my relationships and actions on and off campus.” I practiced this by helping my mother around the house and holding back any attitude towards other people and making sure I contributed positive energy to them so they could have a better day.
