I felt like it was going to be a long day at the start of my fast. The worst part was when I got home because my mother made this big dinner. Even though I felt weak, I told my mother that I just couldn’t eat because I had to reflect on the big goal: to promote peace through skipping dinner and all foods. My pledge was “ I pledged to find empathy with everyone.” During my fast I thought that I couldn’t drink water, however I found out later that I could.
I told people that the objective of my fast was to stop something that the Oakland government isn’t stopping. I got about 16 signatures and pledges from people. This movement showed our community that we support every person who has suffered due to violence. This was my motivation to completing my fast and also to let everyone know that the violence in Oakland should be stopped.
Please comment on this post if you supported today’s faster or fasted in solidarity with our movement.
